The Baraza takes its name from the Kiswahili word “Baraza,” which translates to “council” and “a place where public meetings are held.” The Baraza is a place for members of the human rights, peace and security communities and the larger public to come together and to discuss concerns about peace and justice in a sustainable world, to seek one another’s counsel, and to value the opinions of all. The Baraza is a never-ending and global town hall meeting on U.S. foreign policy.
